Medical Professional Membership

Active Physician Membership is open to all licensed physicians who support the goals and purposes of NNECOS and are directly engaged in the study or practice of clinical oncology/hematology within the region. Active Physician members may vote on any and all issues to come before the membership, hold office, serve on committees, and serve on the Board of Directors.
Active Associate Membership is open to non-physician healthcare professionals and representatives of patient advocacy groups who have a demonstrated interest in the purposes of NNECOS and are supporting the care of oncology/hematology patients within the region. Active Associate members may vote on any and all issues to come before the membership and serve on the Board of Directors and committees. Active Associate members are not eligible to hold Officer positions.
Emeritus Membership is open to individuals who otherwise fulfill the qualifications of active membership but are no longer active in oncology care. Emeritus members may serve on committees and task forces and attend membership meetings, but are not eligible to vote, hold office, or serve on the Board of Directors. Emeritus membership is complimentary.
Fellow/Trainee Membership is open to physicians and other trainees actively enrolled in a full-time accredited oncology or hematology fellowship program in Maine, New Hampshire, or Vermont. Fellows/Trainees may serve on committees and attend membership meetings, but are not eligible to vote, hold office, or serve on the Board of Directors. Fellow/Trainee membership is complimentary.
Affiliate Membership is open to physicians, allied health professionals, and fellows/trainees who support the care of oncology/hematology patients and otherwise meet the qualifications for NNECOS membership, but who live or work outside the Northern New England region of Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont. Affiliate members may participate in NNECOS educational and networking events, submit abstracts for consideration at NNECOS meetings, collaborate on NNECOS-funded research initiatives, and receive all society publications. Affiliate members participate in a non-voting capacity and are not eligible to hold office or serve on the Board of Directors.
Applicants must also meet at least one of the following criteria:
- Previously lived, worked, or trained in Maine, New Hampshire, or Vermont;
- Be sponsored by a current NNECOS Board member; or
- Reside elsewhere in the Northeast and demonstrate how their membership would contribute to the mission and activities of the Society.
Affiliate Membership applications are reviewed and require approval by the NNECOS Board of Directors prior to activation.
Annual membership renews on January 1 of each calendar year.
